Colt as a #2 not as a starter....
Colt Brennan wasnt Drafted on what he was at the time of the draft he was picked for what he could become. I hope Colt eventually proves a few people wrong when he gets his chance but I DO think hes still work in progress at the moment, concerning being a starting QB.
Being a late pick doesnt automatically make you a no hoper, same as being a 1st round pick doesnt make you a star! Joe Theisman for example was a late pick (about #99 I think)

Colt was lucky to be even drafted. I would not go that far and say that he was lucky to be drafted. He put up some great numbers in collage. It's true he was playing some weaker teams. But remember that not all NFL QB's played at big time schools. CP thinks he should get a shot and that means something. Zorn was a QB, he should know better than any of us if Colt is ready to be the #2. Is that you Colt. 186 out of 252 that is pretty lucky, we drafted a punter before you Colt. If I recall Tom Brady was drafted 199th. I think he turned out ok. Don't you?

He also was drafted by an organization that knows how to run a football team and select players who fit best into its system.

That is a good point. See what I said above about that 199th pick.

The FO does not coach the team. Who's to say that Colt can't be a great QB under Zorn.
The NFL is a crazy world. You never know who can be great in the right place.

That's right. Brady could have been great with a lot of teams. Colt may be great as well. But he will have to play one day for us to find out. I just hope he is not playing for another team when we find out. Like Trent Green, Stan Humpries, Brad Johnson, Steve Gannon. Those guys all went on to play in the Super Bowl. Except for Green. He was hurt when the Rams won it all.

Maybe JC really settle in next season and be that guy that we have been wanting for the last few years.

But, the FO of a REAL organization does work with the coach to get the best players for the system instead of just selecting players based on name and reputation. New England chose Brady because they saw a guy who fit into their system and they could groom him without any meddling from the front office. The Redskins organization isn't close to having that kind of set up.

I think the drafting of Brady was nothing more than blind luck. Same as drafting Cassel was. Sometimes things just work out and sometimes they don't. For gods sake the Redskins signed Joe Jacoby thinking that he was a D-lineman. That turned out pretty well I would say.

That's as big of a difference as night and day. I'd be willing to wager that type of luck would never happen under this current regime because it doesn't think that far ahead.

Some draft picks are a sure thing. But most never pan out as planned. Look at the draft history over the years. Remember that even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut. Maybe Vinnie will do so this year. LOL

LOL PMSL Sean I like the one "A Monkey throwing Darts at a list of players available would be a more successful way of picking in the Draft than Vinny!" I cant remember where I 1stv saw this but it has stayed with me and to this day I wonder if...... lol
