I like the look of Jarron Gilbert and think he would be a good addition to our D line.  We do need a better pass rush threat to put MORE pressure on the opersitions QB

do you think he will still be available when we get our 1st pick in the Draft though Mike?

Id like to see both sides of the line addressed in the Draft, whaat about the O line Mike?

Im looking forward to the Draftand FA, just hope we improve where its needed most!!

After further review UK it looks as though Gilbert may not even be drafted until very late if at all...maybe we can get him then or as a undrafted FA. I think that this is because the conference that he played in.

But here's a player that we may very well take with the 13th pick...

B.J. Raji 6'1'' 323 lbs out of Boston College..It looks like he is the #1 rated DT on some sites as of now but may not be drafted until we draft at 13.

BJ Raji is another player Ive heard about Mike lol I think he looked powerfull and quick in that clip just what we need  Smiley

Do you know anything about an OT Eugene Monroe?

http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=8&c=1&nid=3934892&yr=2009

Monroe is a versatile lineman, who has the skill and technique to be a dominant all-around tackle. He possesses great size, a long wingspan and forceful leg drive. He keeps defenders at bay with his reach and uses his quickness and lateral movement to shield them from getting around the end. He has the ability to get to the second level and be an instrumental part of the rushing attack. - Chris Steuber, Scout.com

Hes ranked 13 on Scout.com

I haven't heard of him, UK but I see that he is the #3 ranked at his position so I will be checking him out.

Hey, guys...I checked out ESPN.com and they have Aaron Curry as the #3 overall pick and Eugene Monroe at #6. I strongly think the FO should do work in FA and the draft to get more picks. If we do that, I think we can get guys like Oher or Gilbert at #13. That's what we need (o-line more so), but I do like Curry and Laurinaitis. They are both versatile LBs with speed and intense characters. As for Raji and Robinson, those could be options too. I saw Raji being projected at #14.

You are right Alex it seems as Curry's stock has skyrocketed but the mocks are all over the place...the upcoming entries are a few  from some writers from football toolbox...I just want the Redskinsheads to be familiar with some of the names at the combines who may be available for us to take at 13

Forrest N. Long
13. WAS: Jason Smith, OT, Baylor
The Redskins really need to upgrade their defensive line, but the need to focus on upgrading their aging OL where injuries really hurt their playoff chances down the stretch should be addressed first in this draft. Jon Jansen is near the end of his career, Chris Samuels is coming back from an injury, and there are questions at guard. Washington needs serious help along the offensive line, enough to bypass some of the top defensive prospects to get blockers for quarterback Jason Campbell and RB Clinton Portis. Smith may not be a household name because he played at Baylor, but he is a talented offensive lineman who could move in to start right away at left tackle.

Ricky Dimon:
13. WAS: George Selvie, DE, South Florida
The Redskins are not getting any younger up front of the defensive side and they need to add pressure on opposing QBs. Selvie has good size (6'4'', 240), but his athleticism and speed set him apart as a pass-rusher.

Raul Colon:
13. WAS: James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State
The Redskins are almost set of offense. They do need a backup RB but they could find it later. On defense is where the needs are greater. They need to come out of New York with an impact defensive player. The Ohio State product clearly fill that bill. Laurinaitis' work ethic, intensity and passion is very similar to Cowboys' LB Zack Thomas. He will be around the ball on almost every play.

Joel Welser:
13. WAS: Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
The Redskins defensive ends are getting up their in age and an eventual replacement is a necessity at some point in the draft. Tyson Jackson is a versatile end and the best available defensive lineman on the board. Again, just like with Buffalo and George Selvie, it is a little bit of a reach to take Jackson this early, but it does fill the team's biggest need.

Washington Redskins: Five Defensive Draft Targets For 2009

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/116889-washington-redskins-five-defensive-draft-targets-for-2009

...The slide show at the bottom of this article gives details and names of the "targeted" players. None of which I have listed here but it goes deeper than the first round possibilities.

This could be one to keep an eye on, Everette Brown DE/OLB

They have us picking him @ #13 On NFL DRAFT DOG.COM

http://www.nfldraftdog.com/2009_NFL_Draft/everette_brown.htm

The write up sounds good and if he lives up to expectations then he should have a good NFL career to come.
