To be honnest, I dont want him here, I do hope he gets a job somewhere just not the right man for us.

I agree about him being too much of a distraction for the team.

There's one thing everyone seems to be forgetting.  Most likely, even if we do sign him, he won't play in 2009 because the league still can and probably will suspend him.  Do we really want to take a chunk out of the salary cap on someone we may not be able to use until at least 2010?  Again, we also need to stop falling in love with the "superstars" and ask whether it's a good fit.  That is, has he run the West Coast Offense?  How effective can he be after not doing anything for so long?  Is the team prepared for the distractions his presence alone will cause (i.e., constant questions about how they feel about having Michael Vick on the team instead of focusing on games)?  What kind of backlash from fans will his signing cause?  Is Clinton Portis prepared to no longer be the "alpha male" in the locker room, having to share the spotlight with Vick?

While everyone does deserve a second chance, his presence, I think, will cause more trouble than it's worth.

Stwas, mine is not "falling in love with a superstar" but knowing that the man needs to be able to go on and live his life. I do not know how much of a distraction that he would be but if any, I agree with you because I do not want anyone aboard who will hurt the team but I do know that if he did have the same skills that he had before he went to prison, which he probably will not, there is definitely some need for him. It would be ludicrous to think that there isn't.

The lame "I am about to cry if we ever employ anybody with a past" routine that some of us has, takes it too far and I think that it is just for show. We need to relax on that BS because we have all done something in our lives that can be scrutinized by someone.

But, with signing Michael Vick, are you saying you no longer believe Jason Campbell is the quarterback for this team?  Given the number of offenses he's had to learn and the sieve of an offensive line he's had to play behind, I don't think he's gotten a fair chance to perform to his abilities.

I do not think that Mike is gonna play QB again for anyone Stwas, I think that when and if a team does pick him up it will be as role player and he will probably be used more as a wide out and punt returner and not for  tons of money. I do think that he will throw another pass in the NFL but it will probably be on gadget type plays.

And in another since, I agree with you totally and know that he may not be able to compete again in the NFL because his skills may have diminished to the capacity that he is not a pro caliber athlete anymore but IMO he do deserve a chance to try out.

Your right MB  he does deserve a chance to prove himself but having that chance doesnt mean he will be good enough and get onto someones team.  He may get that chance and just not be good enough, who knows? unless he gets that chance.

If a Team thinks hes worth a tryout then fine but its then up to M Vick to prove his worth.

I do hope he gets a chance and I do hope hes good enough!  It would be exciting to see Vick on a field again.

I just look at how much of a distraction his presence in the locker room alone will be and, given that you already have a dysfunctional front office making all the decisions, I don't think signing him is worth the risk.
