Right now it is pretty simple but once it gets complicated and other tie-breakers are needed, I will try to break it down as best that I can and will update it each week

NFC East Leader...N. Y.  Giants (9-1)

North Leader.. Green Bay Packers (5-5)

      South leader...Carolina Panthers (8-2)

      West Leader...Arizona Cardinals (7-3)

Wildcard Leaders....

Tampa Bay (7-3).......  (Leader due to better overall record of the wildcard contenders)
Washington Redskins (6-4) .. ( Second wildcard leader due to a better conference record (5-3) than the other two 6-4 teams, Atlanta (4-3 in the conference) and Dallas (4-4 in the conference))

Other contenders........Philadelphia Eagles 5-4-1  (4-4 conference we also lead the eagles in head to head so far)

                                Chicago Bears        5-5    (4-4 conference)

                                Minnesota Vikings   5-5     (4-3 conference)

New Orleans Saints  5-5     (2-4 confernece...we lead the Saints in head to head)

*note*...we are also tied with Dallas with a 2-2 division record and this can play a big part in the tie-breaker procedure

Right now we are in a decent position but we must win games!!

Thanks RFC...I think that we are looking pretty good, playoff race-wise right now and as long as we have a shot, I'll, at least put forth the effort to inform...If it becomes a time that we are out the race, I will inform otherwise. But right now we are, very much  in the race and can easily over take Tampa Bay, who still has New Orleans, Carolina, Atlanta and San Diego yet to play, as the wildcard leader and gain home field advantage once we get there.

Right on, HogWild. And we have a tough remianing schedule of our own with NYG and Philly at FedEx, on the road in Baltimore and Cincy, and 2 west coast trips. Based on our last 5 games, I don't know what will happen or whether or not this team will go to the playoffs. I'm so disgusted that I'm suprised I'm posting. New team anyone?

WOW!!!...I am sure that this is emotions Alexander...

The thread is not about last night's game but instead the position that we have right now, trying to show where we stand at this point and our playoff race standings...this is the time of season for this.

In my now 37 years as a Redskins fan, I have never even thought about being a fan of another team and believe me, during that 37 year span I have endured some tough/disappointing seasons and losses.

Playoffs and SB is still what we aspire right?...I'm in it until we are out of it and will be back in it again next year if we do not reach our aspirations this year.

Games to watch...

Washington @ Seattle ........................probable winner... Washington

Tampa Bay @ Detroit..........................Probable winner ...Tampa Bay

Carolina @ Atlanta..............................Toss up

San Fransisco @ Dallas........................probable winner... Dallas

Philly @ Baltimore................................probable winner....Baltimore

Bears @ St. Louis................................Probable winner... Bears

Vikings @ Jacksonville..........................Probable winner...Jacksonville

Green Bay @ New Orleans....................Probable winner.....New orleans

...Of course these are my prediction and all is not going to fall this way BUT we can easily pick up games on Atlanta, Philly, the Vikes, Green Bay and/or New Orleans  this week and can gain,  even more of an advantage if we beat Seattle while still maintaining a game lead on the Bears if they do beat the Rams while remaining on pace with the Bucs as they start their difficult schedule after this game...It is fairly late in the season and we are  looking pretty good in the playoff race as far as I am concerned.

Wow!  Alex, that is a bit of an over reaction!  While very disappointed in the play of our OL and DL on Sunday night, I went into the game with the expectations that at the beginning of the season I said, "If we split with our divisional opponents, I'll be happy".

I went to the parking lot following the game feeling just that way.

Yes splitting with our division is a good way to look at it, Giants are going to be tough to beat.

That's right MB, if we can take care of our business then we will make it into the playoffs.

NFC East Leader...N. Y.  Giants (10-1)

      North Leader.. Chicago Bears (6-5)

      South leader...Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-3) (7-2 conference)

West Leader...Arizona Cardinals (7-3) (division winner)

Wildcard Leaders....

Carolina Panthers (8-3).......  (Leader due to a better overall record of the wildcard contenders and lesser conference record  (5-3) than the division leader Tampa Bay)

Washington Redskins (7-4) .. ( Second wildcard leader due to a better conference record (6-3) than the other two 7-4 teams, Atlanta (5-3 in the conference) and Dallas (5-4 in the conference))

Other contenders........Minnesota Vikings 6-5  (4-3 conference )

New Orleans Saints  6-5    (3-4 conference, we have the head to head)

Philadelphia Eagles   5 -5 -1    (4-4 conference we have the head to head so far)

                                Green Bay Packers   5- 6      (3-4 conferenece)

NOTE: We actually look better than we did last week because Tampa Bay's conference record (7-2) looks much better than Carolina's (5-3) and our (6-3) conference record is better than Carolina's...If we can keep winning or other teams lose we should be okay.
