Was Sean Taylor the best safety to ever play the game?...no he wasn't

Could he have been in due time?...Most defiNITEly!!...but he was robbed of the opportunity

But before I get into why the NFL world, the Redskins team and fans were robbed by his murder which occured almost a year ago, I would like to point out more important victims of this "robbery". First and foremost, little Jackie (his daughter) was robbed of a father who loved her literally to death because he would not have been at the house if not to protect his family. Jackie, the fiance' was robbed of  her future husband who had shown so much love to her that it was documented after his death, showed in her's and her sister's face during the funeral, realized by many others and again was shown by ST's devotion to be there to protect his family.

His loving mom is still being robbed of her son, his sister's of their brother, cousin's, aunt's, uncle's...etc...etc...all of them have had him taken away from them and this hurts me more than missing anything that this young man ever did on the football field.

Secondly, we should ALL feel robbed of a young man who had dedicated himself to his craft and  had set himself up to be a positive example to  the  younger world.

LASTLY, as a very big fan of the player, his football skills, what I will miss about him on our team and what  I think that we were robbed of (which is far less important as the the family's and world's loss), was potentially one of the GREATEST to ever be seen, not only at his position but on a football field...PERIOD.

ST made his mistakes early in his career with the over aggression at times, spitting, causing undue penalties and other incidents but there has not been 3 fingers worth of players  in the history of the NFL who showed as much promise at their position as he did.

The mistakes were made, ST grew up and corrected those mistakes, as people should be allowed to do and was becoming the most dominant safety in football...hands down!!...At the rate that he was improving he would've  easily been mentioned with the names of the Ronnie Lott's and the  Ken Houston's ... As I write this I have to "LOL" at the times that receivers were visably scared of this man as he approached them ...cringing and alligator arming.. Cheesy...WHAT A HITTER HE WAS!!!!

So yeah, I feel somewhat cheated as a ST fan and a football fan, to be robbed of the opportunity to see a very special player continue to show us how the best do it but the most pain that I will feel on Nov. 27th will be directed towards the Taylor family.

R.I.P SEAN TAYLOR!!....You are truly a hero!!

Nicely written.  And  you're right.  His family suffers daily.  The hole in their family looms large each & every day.  The daughter that will never know her father on a personal level only thru photos and videos, his daughter's mother who must raise the child that will never know her father, the numerous family members that will miss him each time the family gathers(that's when his absence will be noticed the most), his mother, who misses the child she gave birth to and her inability to accept that she buried a child(it's just not right in the natural order of things), the father who may not have been perfect but may regret his previous decisions more now than ever, his beloved grandmother who encouraged him and prayed for him only to see him snatched from her protective arms...these are the people whom HE loved and they loved him back.  Try as we might, we can't know the depths of their pain(unless you've been there and I have), but our pain and missing him is important also.  Why?  Because football was an important part of who Sean Taylor was.  He'll forever be synonomous with this game and I have a feeling that he loves that fact.  Sunday's still aren't the same for me...I find myself saying.."if ST was back there he would never have caught that ball".  I know I must let go..he's resting in peace now...and it's not about me.  It's about him.  His life, his gift, his legacy.  A person's death should NEVER define who they are/were....that's what their lives are for.

RIP Sean Taylor...Redskins nation misses you and will always remember how you lived...not how you died.

Very nice Lady and Mike!

To me it's sometimes doesn't feel like it really happened. But then reality sets in and you know that he is gone.

He will live on in our memories forever and I am looking forward to seeing him get into The Ring of Fame at Fed Ex. He will go down as one of the greatest Redskins to ever play.

I hope that his daughter goes on to have a wonderful life and I'm sure that her family will tell her what a great man her father was.

RIP #21

The New York Game is going to be a very emotional one for the players and the fans.

I will be wearing my sean taylor jersey (of course) and bringing my towel.

Gonna be a sweet day and a sad day all rolled into one. Cry
