In reading on other boards about the recent rumor of a Ladell Betts and a first rounder for Ed Reed, our fans reaction and Doc Walker's comment about 'driving Betts down to get Reed' made me wonder why are we always so ready to get rid of Betts?

It seems that every year we are ready to trade him off somewhere.

I don't know but IMO having a backup RB like Betts is invaluable and I hope that he is a Redskin until he retires.

I agree with you on this, i have never understood that either, we have a very good chance of having two 1,000 yard rusher in the same year and you just don't mess with that...I'm glad Zorn is talking about using him more...

I also agree it would be a bad idea to trade Betts...CP and Betts gonna be an awesome twosome this season!! Can't wait to watch it Smiley

Exactly, HW was telling me how he made a bet that we would have two 1000 yard rushers and I could not discount that at all plus Betts is good coming out of the backfield.

Redskins Nation baby! There is a reason the rest of the NFL's fans hate us......but it's not the fault of anyone here.  But seriously, I don't agree with trading him but I actually do see the reasoning behind their arguments.  Still doesn't mean I don't think they are wrong though.

Yeah I know that there are reasons behind it but this time, I think that it is a couple of good preseason games by Marcus Mason. I just can't get with that reason.

He signed on for the cheap and has been very solid as a back-up RB... if not him what else would we want in a back up?

Well since I am with MB this will be hard but i THINK that their reasons are due to how much we could get for Betts.  I think in their minds there are some teams that would DIE to have a player like Betts, which is true.  But we won't be able to get a top-flight DB or second rounder for him like some believe.

I get the same feeling BigMike but I think that if we were to offer Betts up for a trade, we are going to have to offer him as a 2nd stringer with only one thousand yard season and I don't think that what we can get for that offer will be what Betts can give us....seems like we are on the same page there

I think they do it b/c of a lack of anything better to do Tongue.  Why trade him?  He's done good by us.  Picked up the slack when CP went down.  Ok..so he's not CP material...but he's no slob either.  He needs to be careful tho...Rock & Mason ain't looking too shabby this year.  Trade him?  No.
