With all the talk now about Bret Favre and beforehand Collins and Brennen it seriously makes me think, why not Jason Campbell?

What hasn’t he shown us, that we want to see from him, in only a handful of starts?

Campbell has shown that he can compete in the NFL with a far less than a stellar receiving corps, so I can only get excited about his possibilities with the guys in which we have now. Were we really expecting, immediate Superbowl as soon as he was named the starter? ... I know that I wasn’t

Yes, against Dallas and Tampa Bay  drives were killed by his late interceptions but who was it that kept us in those games?…would it have been a different outcome if he had targets available in the end zone and did not have to try to force underneath passes?

IMO, Campbell has endured enough “waiting on his turn” in the NFL and should be our starter when season starts. He has the tools needed to be far greater than most  QB’s who are starting  in the NFL right now. All I think that he was lacking was personnel and a chance. Now that it seems that he has the personnel, I truly hope that he is not cheated out of his chance by the greed of seeing a player who was once a great QB but who's now aging , is available and try to bring him in to start in front of Campbell and halt the progress that Campbell should be able to make this season.

Mike that is an excellent post I think that last season with our right side of the line going down early in the season really made us one dimensional.  When you go one dimensional in the NFL it is alot of three and outs!!!!!  The red zone was one of our promblems last year on offense,  personally I think that Gibbs had a big leach on Jason and did not let him learn from his mistakes in certain situations.  With Gibbs and Saunders gone it is up to Jason to show what he has!!!!  Now he has more weapons in the red zone and hopefully the line stays injury free and he will show you what he is capable of doing!!!!!  He is going to open some eyes around the NFL

I agree T-Y, i try my hardest not to know Gibbs for anything because he has done so much for the team even in version II, but you are right he should've opened up with Campbell more....There's is too much talent there.

I don't think Jason has really been given a fair chance to show what he can really do because of all the constant changes in offensive schemes and injuries at key positions.  Hopefully, Zorn will be around long enough to allow JC to blossom into the great quarterback I feel he's capable of being.

He  is more than capable of being a good QB the only thing that he need to work on is his short intermediate passes!!!  He can throw the long ball but he just needs to work on his accuracy on his short passes

I do pray that JC can come out and play like we know he can.I hope he can finish strong on close games cuz if he can't we will have a QB controversy on our hands.

My only grumble with Campbell is that I feel given his size and speed he should run more often. When does take off he invaribly gets the yards required.

This is something that I do not want to see from our QB, we have one of the best RB tandems in the NFL if used right to handle the runs. If Campbell is under pressure I think that he takes off the right amount of times.

I agree with you Mike you do not want your QB to run only when nothing else is there!!!!

I am not saying he should run on every down, Randal Cunningham he is not, but there have been occassions when lanes have oppened up and he could take off, but instead he would stay in the pocket and toss the ball away eventualy.

All I am saying is if when lanes appear he has i believe the ability to run more than what he does instead of just throwing the ball away or trying to force it into coverage.

Not to be picky but we should at least spell our Quarterback's name correctly in the thread title.
