What's up with these guys showing up for camp just to be disruptive? Just like Chad Johnson, these players should not show up just to avoid a fine. Right after he said he was fine, Burris should've been fined because he is still under contract even if it is one that he does not like. He should not be thinking that his contract problems is bigger than the rest of the team's needs. As a veteran and leader he is only setting bad examples for the rookies in camp and this is why this type of mess continues to happen year after year.....

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Plaxico Burress isn't going to practice with the New York Giants until the Super Bowl champions give him a new contract.
Burress reported to the Giants' mandatory minicamp on Wednesday but refused to work out because he was not happy with the way contract negotiations are progressing between the team and agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Coach Tom Coughlin had indicated after practice that Burress did not work out because of a knee injury, but the receiver said he was healthy.

"Me and my agent are trying to get a deal done so I can stay a New York Giant for a long time," Burress said. "I, personally, don't like the way they're going and I am not happy about it. I am choosing not to participate."

Burress, who caught a game-winning 13-yard touchdown pass with 35 seconds remaining in the Super Bowl to give the Giants a 17-14 win over the previously unbeaten New England Patriots, has three years remaining his six-year, $25 million deal. He will earn $3.25 million this year, $3.5 million in 2009 and $3.75 million in 2010.

"I'm not saying I'm being mistreated," Burress said. "Everybody wants to be treated fairly."

He wants to get paid for making the Superbowl winning TD. And also secure a long term contract. Who would blame him.

And he may deserve it and it is probably being negotiated but until then, you don't come to practice and just stand around looking. That is not benifitting the T-E-A-M

How can we tear Chad Johnson apart for his disruption to the team but praise Burress for his?

Burress' may not be as blatant as CJ's but it is, in fact a disregard for his fellow teammates. Brian Urlacher is in the middle of contract dispute but the guy is out there practicing with his team without a problem.

WOW...with this and center Shuan O'Hara calling out Burress for not participating in practice, it really does look like this team may be falling apart.

Shockey has always pulled the team apart, thats why he wasn't playing when they went on their Superbowl run.  Also why they were praying he still had some trade value, but after this offseason you have to believe his trade stock has plummeted way below what it was a year or two ago.  As far as Burress that is pretty odd, he has 3 years left in his contract, I understand negotiating a long term big money deal but at least go to practice you still are getting paid multi millions for the next three years.  But hopefully you guys are right and this team crumbles, in my opinion that would leave the NFCe Champs to a race between us and philly if Macnabb stays healthy, and yes I am a homer I believe we have a shot at winning the NFCBeast

In Shockey's defense a report came out that the Giants forced him to sit in the owne'rs box for the SB and wouldn't allow him on the sidelines with his teammates.  That's pretty busch.

I didn't know that, but I also am a little unwilling to believe everything written or said in the media.  With Shockey's attitude about the team and life in general, it wouldn't in the surprise me in the slightest if he preferred to be up in the skybox drinking with his buddies.
