Stwasm, I am going to have to agree with you now...this guy is starting to be too much. I have supported him throughout all this but there is no excuse to not give 100% for the team that you are a part of. If you are not going to go all out do not come to practice and disrupt what is going on with the rest of the team... Johnson shows up for Bengals but drama again rules the day Chad Johnson showed up for the start of the Cincinnati Bengals' mandatory minicamp on Thursday. Beyond that, nothing was clear. The disgruntled receiver didn't participate in the morning workout after telling the team he's got an ailment — fittingly, there were conflicting descriptions of what was wrong. After the team asserted that he had refused to practice, Johnson went out for the afternoon workout, caught a few passes during drills, then removed his helmet and covered his head with a white towel, a signal that he was done. The impasse goes on. And his coaches and teammates are tired of it. Johnson was the center of attention Thursday from the moment he joined his teammates on the practice field — 12 minutes after the session started — until the day ended with no resolution to the overriding question for the Pro Bowl receiver and his team. rest of the article here... http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/bengals/2008-06-12-johnson-minicamp_N.htmNFL network's total access view here.... http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d808cf963

And the sad thing is according to this article is CJ looks to have the upper hand in all this. The owner seems to be in between a rock and hard place. I don't care how much I like this guy (even his on the field antics is fine with me) he should not be single-handedly ruining his team... CINCINNATI -- For each of the Cincinnati Bengals' 40 seasons, Mike Brown has been a part of it all in some way. First it was at the knees of his father and the franchises' founder, Paul Brown. Since his father's death in 1991, it is Brown who has been the organization's final voice and conscience. Thus, when Brown says he does not know where things are going with disgruntled, brooding and restless receiver Chad Johnson, that means something. "He made a commitment to us when he signed his contract. We relied on it. He is not someone you can replace quickly. It is not easily done. We are counting on him being here. We are." And therein lies the crux of the dilemma for the Bengals. They are counting on a player they cannot count on. If it were only about the snappy routes and snappy moves and quick hands and quick feet and big-play scores, then you could not find a more dynamic receiver than Chad Johnson to count on. But it is not. It is about much more with Johnson. Especially now, in this town. Especially now, with this team. ...article... http://www.nfl.com/news/story;jsessionid=7978A4A5BC3103BC73990553D0196406?id=09000d5d808ce47d&template=with-video&confirm=true

Already, Johnson's teammates are tired of the whole thing.
"You know what? I'm going to pass on talking about Chad today," quarterback Carson Palmer said. "I think everybody in here is probably sick of hearing about him, and everybody out there is sick of hearing about him. So I'm not going to talk about him."
"I don't know what he's thinking, I really don't," Houshmandzadeh said. "He called me last night and said he wasn't coming, but I knew he was lying. I was on my way to the airport, so I knew he probably was already here. But I don't know what he's thinking. I don't know. I can't speak for him."
Simone Comments: As much as I liked him as a WR I am really getting tired of hearing about his drama. Who possibly would want a cancer like this? Cowboys probably. Can you imagine TO and Chad figthing over the spot lite. Enough is Enough

WOW and Housh (and I ) had his back if anyone else didn't. I think that CJ's burning all of his bridges now.

MB, I can't believe you came around! Well, you did try to give the guy a fair shot, so there's a lot to be said for that.
CD is such a drama queen. Seriously, how annoying. How much you wanna bet he's single?

I am soo glad we didn't pick him up, IMO it would have been another failing offseason move made by the Redskins FO.

Pook, it is about the team and until now he did nothing to hurt the team. Words are just words but when you start getting to the point that you do not want to perform and give the team your all, then it becomes a different story to me

^That may just go back to the argument that, as a professional, he should have been doing his job, honoring it and the team, rather than bad-mouthing his way into this situation. If I were the Bengals I'd be all, "Look fool, you're being paid millions. Get up off your *** and do your job". But that's just me. You know I don't have patience or pity for fools.

IMOYou are SO right S12 but I because of the final outcome as far as us getting the young receivers that we got, I am very happy that they did not trade him.

Maybe I WAS to hard on my boy... Chad Johnson has ankle surgery, expected to be ready for campChad Johnson underwent successful arthroscopic surgery this morning on his right ankle and is expected to be ready to participate in training camp July 28, the Bengals announced this afternoon. The procedure was performed by Bengals orthopedic surgeon Angelo Colosimo and was completed without complication, according to the Bengals. The ankle problem has lingered since the end of the 2007 season, coach Marvin Lewis has said last weekend during the team's mandatory minicamp. Drew Rosenhaus, Johnson's agent, was in town Thursday, and the various sides apparently agreed to address the issue. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/bengals/2008-06-17-johnson-surgery_N.htm
