Just saw on ESPN's "Breaking News" that the Bears have just released Cedric Benson.

Details to come soon...

The Chicago cut running back Cedric Benson on Monday.
Benson was arrested on Saturday morning on drunken driving charges in Austin, Texas. It was the second offense in less than a month for Benson, who was charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest in early May.

Benson, the Bears' first-round draft pick in 2005, started 11 games last season for the team.

"Cedric displayed a pattern of behavior we will not tolerate," Chicago General manager Jerry Angelo said in a statement. "As I said this past weekend, you have to protect your job. Everyone in this organization is held accountable for their actions.

"When individual priorities overshadow team goals, we suffer the consequences as a team. Those who fail to understand the importance of 'team' will not play for the Chicago Bears."

All I have to say, is how stupid can you be to get caught twice in 5 weeks. Plus he is not that great of a runningback anyways. No tears for me.

I agree Simone, the guy was just a few weeks ago, saying how he was mistreated and actually had people feeling sorry for him only to turn around and get caught again. Then today he had the nerve to say that he "Aced the field sobriety test".

Man go pay your fine, do your community service and get some help before you kill someone out there!

I will see your 20 because Benson will either go to Dallas or Oakland since all the bad boys and criminals end up on those 2 teams.  Grin
