I never thought that I would start this thread at this point, but I figure from some news I just found out today, I figure that I would bring up Redskins Beach Blitz, which is May 17-18.  There is something else going on in that weekend, but I'll get to that later.

To start things off, I have to say that this one of the best things that the Redskins ever planned out as far as events are concerned.  For one, they have this event where I live, Virginia Beach of all places.  Some other things are trying out some football activities (passing, tackling, kicking field goals, etc.), seeing players and coaches, and other things here and there.  This is like the perfect weekend getaway for any Redskins fan.  It's just absolutely fun as far as I'm concerned.  I thought that the first time around that that would be it, but it continued since then.  I've been to every one since it started, and I totally look forward to come to this upcoming event.  I hope to make some new friends when the Blitz comes around in May.

As far as the 17th goes, there is an autograph session in the area from noon to 2.  It will be Redskins Legends Neal Olkewicz (#52) and Andre Collins (#55).  It is at Chesapeake Square Mall in Chesapeake, Virginia.  You can go to tidewatersports.com in the Upcoming Events section for further details.  I figured that some of y'all that will probably be coming to the Blitz on that weekend would be interested in that piece of news.  I totally look forward to that weekend.

You said it FF703!  I attended my first Beach Blitz last year and had a total blast!  It was 3 days last year but I couldn't afford to attend some of the things they offered Sad.  This year, however, they've cut it back to 2 days and did away w/the more expensive, shmoozing type of things that were a part of last year's Blitz.  For $75, this year, you can attend 1 day of the autograph and football activities and the BBQ.  The tailgate party is free and open to the public again this year.  I didn't attend this last year b/c I didn't want to get hung up in all the traffic that clogs the oceanfront..but I think I will brave that this year and check it out.  I can't wait to find out who's coming this year.  Last year I got Mike Sellers, Randy Thomas, Ade Jimoh, Gary Clarke, Dexter Manning, Coach Blache and several other players' autographs.  It was fun.  Riggins will do his radio show from there again this year I believe.  I'm going to try to get an auto from him.  I also liked the fact that they had an on site Skins store there and on the last day about 3 hours before it was over, they slashed the prices on stuff like jerseys and what not and I got a bunch of stuff dirt cheap that way.  Just a little bargain hunter tip for all of you folks on a budget like me.  I got the Premier, Cooley storm jersey for $45!  I couldn't  pass that up.  So I look forward to another Blitz and hope the folks will come out and support it again.  I'm also waiting w/bated breath to see if they'll move training camp here next year!  Wouldn't that be a hoot?  I'd definitely take time off for that!

Thanks for the heads up on the Neil Okewicz and Andre Collins signing that is taking place that weekend also. I didn't know that.

Beach Blitz is a lot of fun.

I went the first year and had a blast. I could not go last year, but come hell or high water I will be there this year.

I did the football challenge of Friday, along with the player signing. I also was at the defense class with Gregg Williams and got a chance to talk to him one on one for like 10 minutes because there were not a lot of people there that day.

Man, I am going to miss Gregg. I still wished he were our new head coach.

I really enjoyed the tailgate party at Neptune’s Park on the waterfront on both Saturday and Sunday, but this year it will only be on Sunday.

New this year is the BBQ, but for $60 it is not worth it, IMO.

I guess I will be doing the football challenge/player signing on Saturday and the tailgate on Sunday, but I won't be able to drink at the tailgate because I will have to hit the road home right afterwards.

Man, that sucks.

Why couldn't we have the tailgate on Saturday as well???

You lucky locals!  Grin

I know the Dolphins have done this a few times here on South Beach and it is a huge success and everyone speaks highly of it...if it works for my bottom-of-the-barrel Dolphins--I can only imagine how amazing a Redskins one must be. You guys better take pics, and lots of 'em!

Guess will start trying to arrange my schedule so can get over there either for Riggins radio show or Saturday afternoon for festivities.  Past two years only made it over on Sunday.

Enjoyed when bunch got together for breakfast on Sunday morning at Rudee's.

I'm going...I'm doing an all day Saturday thing...the challenge from 10a - 4p and the BBQ which starts @ 6p I think...I didn't buy a ticket for Sunday b/c last year they had the same folks on Sunday that were there on Saturday..the only reason I went to both days last year was b/c they gave us free tix for standing in line to get Betts' auto and he never showed...so everyone in line got a free ticket to the next day's challenge.  So..DC...if you're coming I can meet up...not coordinating mind you..I'm no good at that kinda stuff..lol.  I've always thought that ES (and now RH should have a something somewhere during this time...we could meet at the tailgate on Sunday if folks want..I'd be willing to come down for that..if a bunch of folks are gonna be there.  Let me know.

RR (Redskin-Roadtrips) along with some ES'ers will be having a couple of get-togethers. RH members are welcome to join us.

I also think a meet-up at the tailgate party Sunday would be cool too.
