Put Terrell Owens on the list of big-name players locked up with long-term contract extensions by the Dallas Cowboys. Owens and the Cowboys have agreed to terms on a three-year, $27 million extension, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

The extension keeps Owens in Dallas through the 2011 season. The deal includes a $12.9 million signing bonus and a $100,000 base salary guarantee. Owens is slated to make $19.5 million over the next two years, $27 million over the next three years and $34 million over the four years he now has left on his contract.

Owens, 34, was set to enter this season in the final year of a three-year, $25 million contract he signed with Dallas in March of 2005. Owens has led the Cowboys in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in each of his two seasons in Dallas, while also leading the NFL with 28 touchdown receptions during that span.

The extension for Owens is the latest in a series of long-term deals reached with key starters. The Cowboys spent roughly $95 million on one day, signing running back Marion Barber to a seven-year, $45 million deal and cornerback Terrence Newman to a six-year, $50.2 million deal on May 21.

The Cowboys also signed left tackle Flozell Adams to a six-year, $43.8 million in April, while quarterback Tony Romo signed a six-year, $67.5 million deal last season.

Simone comments: Dallas (Jerry Jones) is spending big money. I guess TO will retire as a Cowboy at age 39. Boooooooo. I hope he gets hurt (Sorry I should not wish that on anybody.

Looks like Jones is preparing himself  by signing his core players to long term contracts for the uncapped season that, IMO is not going to happen.

I also think that the Owens will not play through that whole contract and even if he does, his talents will diminish to were he will be a non-factor in their offense before the contract runs out.

I don't know MB...that's only 2 years.  I mean, a lot could happen but I don't think he will diminish that much in that time span.

Without Sean Taylor coming at them the career span of all WRs has been extended.

You're right CT through the 2011 is only 3 seasons but he will be a 38 year old man and I really can't see him catching 4 TD's in a game at 38 it may happen but I think that the great Jerry Rice's skills had diminished by that age.

I agree with Mike. I don't think TO will be catching 4 TD's at 38. Matter a fact he wont next year either.

Actually, Jerry Rice is who I was thinking of when I replied.  Yes he was not as productive, but he was still someone you wanted to account for.  Besides, I hate the thought that someone younger than me is considered old Tongue

LOL...I feel ya my friend, actually TO is 10 years younger than I am but while still a young man, in football years 38 is pretty old. I know he stays in great shape but I can not see him being dominant anymore then.

but you were right in our debate about Mathis from day one so I'll have respect your opinion here and see how he performs at that age.

Not about being right for me, although I appreciate it Smiley

I just think the man has a ton of talent, even though I don't like him.  We will see.  I actually hope you are right this time, since I would like to see him less in the future against us!
