I say Fletcher with Cooley a close second. There weren't enough choices to add The Red Snapper.

I think you could make an argument for any of them.

I think its between Cooley and Portis, who has been a top 7 back I believe since he has been in the league (as long as he isn't injured). And Cooley who just happens to make big plays when we need them, and I just love the heart cooley puts on the field, never goes down on first contact, always fighting for more yards, or the first down(which majority of the time he gets). I had to go with Cooley though just because he wasn't getting any votes, I thought he deserved atleast one.

Man...they are all good. Hard choice. I'll rank...sheesh..even that's hard..
1. Fletcher 2. Cooley 3. Samuels 4. Landry 5. Portis
I'm not the biggest Portis fan...although when he's healthy he's the best at his position and plays w/alot of heart. I feel Fletcher came in and really made a difference in the middle for us. I really like the energy he brings to the games and team.

I am a HUGE Gibbs fan ldy, but I think that Portis wasn't able to excel in his and Saunders' system because he was, although tough, too small to be able to run the plays that were designed for him to run.
I look for a Denver type season for him this year.

Samuels is overrated IMO. I'd say Portis, no questions asked.

Chris Samuels is one time All-Pro Selection and a 5-time pro bowl player at the nfl level at left tackle. He was the number 3 pick in the draft, Id say he lived up to that position. He signed a monster near 50-million dollar contract with us a couple years ago and he has earned that as well. Is he a top-3 left tackle in the game? Probably not. But I would argue that he is definitely top-5. I always thought Jansen was the overrated one. True, Portis broke the record with us (on more carries) but he is not a pro-bowl player. Why do I say that? He made the pro-bowl one time....in 2003 with the Broncos and has never worn the Burgundy helmet in the pro bowl since he arrived here in 2004. Now, before I'm accused of Portis hate I'd like to point out that he was clearly number 2 for me on this poll and I have no problem with anyone voting for him. I would just counter to GnarlyT that you can say Portis, but I think there should be questions asked.

I went with Samuels because of his relatively consistent dominance for an extended duration. Although, Springs (sans the putrid performance in Seattle) and Fletcher may have been our 2 best players last season. Carter also had a phenomenal year as well. If he gets a little more help from his fellow dLinemen this season he could stake claim to the title this year.

Portis runs, blocks, and catches excellently. He is a team leader in the huddle and locker room.
