Although we know that every aspect falling into place makes for a winning program, I think that all of us has that certain something that they are looking for going into the season that, in their opinion will help make the team take the next step. Mine would be getting the short to intermediate yardage and red zone help that we, sorely need from our big rookie receivers.
What would yours be....?

I think a BIG one that was overlooked in the poll is the health of the offensive line. Unless those guys can stay healthy -- and that's a HUGE question, given the age and injury history -- the offense will struggle. We also have to consider how quickly Zorn's offense can translate from theory to game situations.

This is true and although it was indeed overlooked in the poll. I think that the o-line staying healthy will be very important in order for the team to take the next step and may get the most votes as "other"...great point!

Good point on the OL. But let's face it, Campbell has to make good end of game decisions if the Redskins are going to take the next step. Those 4th quarter interceptions killed us last year. I think he had 3 that stopped comebacks at the end. With that we all know that he has the arm strength to go deep. He now has more targets to throw to. Everyone knows when a team opens up the passing game and has deep treats that the running game improves. I look for Portis to have a great year.

I think its got to be the receivers, our 18th ranked offense (by pts scored), needs to improve this season. We had far too many yards and chances last year, and weren't able to capitalize.

Avoiding the injury bug. Concerned about depth with the defense and OL.

I agree and although the "o-line guys" make good points and I would rather the starters stay healthy, I think that even though we had injuries to key players on the line last year, that the subs came in and played well and did not pose too much of a problem. Heyer with a year under his belt should fair well, then there's the rookie Rinehart and Yoder to add some depth to the line. I think that we have the depth we just need to infuse some youth into the line within the next year or two. We have to capitalize on drives this season by completing drives with TD's and I think that Thomas, Kelly, Davis and Cooley will be the go to guys when we pass in the red-zone.

The new offense will likely go thru some growing pains. The young WRs will probably take awhile to adjust to the speed of the NFL game. Therefore, our D will be key to pulling off victories, especially early. That and we've GOT to do better at protecting our home field. There is NO reason we should EVER lose a home game with 90,000+ rabid Redskins united in the sole goal of defeating our enemy!!!

It is all about JC. The offense is being built around him, the big WRs and the two tight end set.

I can understand this vote but, IMO Campbell has the tools and would've already been there if he had the receivers. You got to be able to have the talent where you can mix it up or the defense will have the advantage of preparing for a one or two dimensional passing game and that had to have affected the way Campbell could look if he had the right weapons. I am not really worried about his progression.

I am sick of settling for field goals in the red zone and Campbell needs more targets than just Cooley. Even Sellers was in effective last year, although I don't remember him being thrown to all that often. Big receivers, regardless of age, will be a huge asset to JC. I think increasing our red zone production will be a huge difference maker.

"Young" was specified because that it all we have in big receivers and they are going to have to step up quickly because their roles are going to be very important. I think that Kelly is going to be used across the middle much like a Roy Williams and that will be important in controlling the clock. That is the type weapon that we have not seen in quite some time and it really makes me anxious to see the impact that a receiver like that can have on our team.

Yeah I know. I meant that regardless of age, because everyone says it takes young new receivers a while to mature into good receivers. I think we are going to see the exception to the rule this year and that they are going to help a ton.

I definitely agree CT, the inside/outside game should be awesome. Although Moss and ARE are not big receivers, I am sure that they can mentor our rookies on what it takes to be a successful inside threats given their knowledge of the game. Hell, they may even know more by having to actually learn how to execute plays that they would not normally have to at their size. It's one thing to have the natural size and ability to out muscle opposing DB's and another to have learned the techniques in order to do so because of a lack of size.
