I definitely would not expect to hear any new like this about this guy...

Harrison interviewed by police about shooting in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA -- Indianapolis Colts star receiver Marvin Harrison was interviewed by police about a North Philadelphia shooting this week.

Lt. Frank Vanore said the investigation of the shooting outside a bar Tuesday was continuing. Harrison has not been arrested or charged.

"He was interviewed," Vanore said Friday. "Why he was interviewed, that is all part of the investigation. No one is a suspect."

Vanore told WCAU-TV the shooting occurred near 25th and Thompson streets, near a car wash owned by Harrison and about a half-mile from a bar also owned by the All-Pro receiver.

Harrison's agent Tom Condon says his client was not involved in the shooting, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter. Condon said reports of Harrison's involvement in the shooting are "erroneous" and the receiver is not the subject of any investigation. Harrison's attorney will address the situation publicly Saturday.

After the first day of their rookie minicamp, Colts coach Tony Dungy said he knew little more than had been reported.

"My phone has been ringing, too, but I don't have any details," Dungy said. "I really don't have any more information than you do."

“We have no credible information at this time, and we will not comment until we do," Colts president Bill Polian said in a statement released by the team.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league is aware of the report and is "looking into it."

Harrison has played his entire 12-season career with the Colts and is the franchise's record-holder in every major receiving category - receptions (1,042), yards (13,944), touchdowns (123) and 100-yard games (59). The 35-year-old is one of only four players in league history to top 1,000 receptions.

But after eight consecutive Pro Bowl appearances, last season was the most frustrating of Harrison's career.

He injured his left knee against Denver on Sept. 30, finished with 20 receptions for 247 yards and one TD and missed all but five games.

Team president Bill Polian said in February that Harrison was recovering from offseason arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and had been rehabilitating the inflamed capsule in his left knee. He was not expected to be completely healthy for the start of the Colts training camp July 24.

I read that online yesterday and it made me sad for Coach Dungy. He's given that organization a level of class they'd never seen before, and it would be sad if this taints it.

I have a hard time believing Harrison was involved in the shooting.  Harrison reminds me
on a modern day Art Monk.  He's just a quiet private person.

I can't belive this story. Right now all signs point to him being very guilty. He doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would have 25 guns.

I'm with you Riggins44, it's hard to believe that MH would get caught up in something like this. But you never know!

NCSF, I really think that we are going to find out that he shot at dude. I think that the two guys had fought a couple of times and sometimes tempers just take control no matter the persons usual demeanor.

It was his gun and it was custom made, so I think that he was the only one who had access to the gun.

The Associated Press

(truncated)...Radio station WIP, citing unidentified sources, reported the alleged shooting victim argued with Harrison at Playmakers bar. The victim left and headed to his car, Harrison followed and gunfire broke out, the station reported. A source told WIP that ballistic tests showed the shots were fired from a custom-made Belgian weapon, and police determined Harrison owns that kind of gun. Police went to a Philadelphia car wash owned by Harrison and questioned him about the gun, the station said. Harrison acknowledged owning such a weapon, but told officials it never left his suburban Philadelphia home, the radio station reported.

If he is guilty, then I will be disappointed in him.  This just seems so
out of character.

The NFL needs more Darrell Green's and Art Monk's.

Honestly, I think that if you push even Monk or Green to a certain level that they can lose it also.

These guys are human and I think that Harrison, even if found guilty is still a very good guy. The guy that he got into with was a convicted murderer and came to Harrison's bar looking for trouble.

I hope he's not involved.  He's one of the WRs out there who don't do a lot of dancing and celebrations after touchdowns -- like an Art Monk.   Here's more on it from PFT:

The Philadelphia Daily News has a lengthy (and excellent) story about the shooting outside the aptly-named “Playmakers” bar in North Philadelphia, which is owned by Colts receiver (and Philly native) Marvin Harrison.

Here are some things we didn’t previously know (or previously hadn’t noticed):

The victim of the shooting had been in a fistfight with Harrison moments before the shooting.  The victim had been kicked out of the bar two weeks earlier, and had bickered with Harrison ever since.

The victim initially concealed the fact that he’d been shot.  He later admitted it, but declined to identify the shooter.

As to those reports of the Belgian gun being found in a bucket, the Daily News writes that Harrison handed the gun over.

Harrison spent four hours being interviewed at the police station, with his attorney present.  Harrison acknowledged being involved in a fight with the victim, but denied any involvement in the shooting.

Detectives are searching for another man who called and claimed that he’d been shot by Harrison.

Five of the six shell casings found at the scene came from Harrison’s gun.

Though police have taken great pains to explain that there currently is no suspect, the Daily News makes clear that Harrison is a target of the investigation.

And why wouldn’t he be?  It was his gun that had been fired, and the gun was in his possession the next day.  Unless Harrison is in a position to implicate someone else (or if there’s someone else who’ll take the fall), it’s all pointing to him at this point.

I never thought this type of thing would happen to Harrison. I wonder how Manning feels about this? And Harrison is coming off an injured knee and is up in age. I heard the report on NFL radio this morning.

Harrison never have me this impression, maybe he was just shy or maybe he's getting setup.  Either way this I feel terrible for the Colts organization, who have worked extremely hard to earn the level of pedigree they have today, don't want to see some knucklehead mess it all up for them (doubt it will though, Peyton and Dungy are just too likable)

Some people collect them.  I just never thought that he'd be the type to get involved in something like this.
